A Message from Our Founder:

Since HydroLOGICA was founded in 2017, we have been continually inspired by the growth, partnerships, and impact that have shaped our journey. What began as a vision to strengthen water and sanitation services through practical training and collaboration has expanded into meaningful work alongside organizations and communities around the world. We remain grateful for the people, partners, and purpose that continue to drive HydroLOGICA forward.

In this edition of our newsletter, we are excited to introduce two of our recent apprentices who are helping shape the future of our work. We also highlight a recent training initiative conducted in Tanzania with RUWASA in partnership with the Global Water Center, along with a featured article from GWC sharing insights from the experience. Additionally, we are pleased to share a two-part feature published by the Coastal Breeze that reflects on my early beginnings and the inception and growth of HydroLOGICA over the years.

New Faces at HydroLOGICA

We’re excited to introduce Josh Davis, who completed HydroLOGICA’s Apprenticeship Program this spring! Josh brings five years of experience as an engineer with the British Army, along with one year as an engineering research intern. He holds two master’s degrees: one in Civil and Materials Engineering, and another in Education for Teaching Secondary Sciences (Physics) from Cambridge. He joined HydroLOGICA to gain hands-on, practical field experience and was particularly drawn to the opportunity to apply his academic background in real-world settings. He is excited to contribute to current and future projects in Nicaragua and other countries. In his free time, Josh enjoys riding motorbikes, taking on hands-on projects and building things from scratch and exploring new restaurants and cuisines.

Meet the newest member of the team at HydroLOGICA’s headquarters in Nicaragua, Ximena Porras. Ximena is a Business Administrator with over eight years of experience in international programs, specializing in cross-cultural coordination and global collaboration. Driven by a service-oriented mindset and a desire to create meaningful impact, she enjoys connecting people and ensuring operations run smoothly across diverse teams and cultures. She is excited to continue contributing to HydroLOGICA’s work in Nicaragua and beyond. Outside of work, she enjoys traveling the world, experiencing different cultures—especially through their food.

Training on Water Well Drilling in Tanzania

Earlier this year, HydroLOGICA partnered with the Global Water Center (GWC) to deliver specialized training for RUWASA drilling technicians in Tanzania focused on borehole sealing, aquifer isolation, and job site safety. The training followed a comprehensive assessment of drilling practices and equipment conducted in 2025 and was designed to strengthen best practices for protecting Tanzania’s groundwater resources. These training sessions, conducted by HydroLOGICA CEO Brandon Stone and HydroLOGICA’s Africa Field Representative, Fadzai Munodawafa were held in Dar es Salaam and Dodoma, reaching a total of 53 participants.

The training combined classroom instruction with hands-on field demonstrations to reinforce both theory and practical application. The strong engagement from participants highlighted both the value of the training and the growing emphasis on improving safety standards and sustainable groundwater protection practices within RUWASA drilling teams.
